Monday, 16 June 2025: RQI Investors, an active quantitative equities manager within the First Sentier Investors group, has today announced the launch of the RQI Australian Diversified Alpha Long Short Fund (the Fund), with UniSuper providing seed investment of $500 million.
Drawing on the market-leading and unique, core systematic investment process of the RQI Australian Diversified Alpha strategy, the new Fund invests in ASX 300 companies, combining an adaptive leverage approach to long-short investing ranging up to 160% long and 60% short, whilst maintaining 100% market net exposure. The Fund aims to deliver consistent risk adjusted returns of 4-6% p.a. (gross) above the benchmark and is open to institutional and eligible wholesale investors in Australia.

The Fund is managed by RQI Investors’ experienced team including lead Portfolio Manager Dr Joanna Nash and Co-Portfolio Manager Dr Ron Guido, together with Portfolio Manager Dr Wang Chun Wei and Head of Investments Dr David Walsh. By adopting a systematically-driven approach using fundamental insights and leveraging AI and machine learning, the team identifies alpha opportunities from a wide range of information sources, both positive and negative. The Fund systematically selects companies for long and short positions in the Fund, whilst being 100% net exposed to the market.
