By paving new ways, we see different things

At First Sentier Investors1, we have a commitment to follow our own path; to invest responsibly over the long term for the benefit of our clients and the communities in which we invest.

Since our inception in 1988, we have evolved into a global fund manager with a client base that extends across Asia, Australia, Europe and North America. We invest over A$222 billionacross equities, fixed income, infrastructure and multi-asset solutions.

We work together across multiple global markets, with more than 800 employees collaborating to achieve our vision to be a world-leading provider of active, specialist investment capabilities.

In addition to First Sentier Investors, our brands include FSSA Investment Managers, Stewart Investors and Realindex. First Sentier Investors is known as First State Investments outside of Australia.

Our commitment to asking difficult questions, considering all angles and thinking further ahead means we see around more corners and can better protect and grow our clients’ investments.

Creating sustainable, long-term results

Driven by curiosity and a desire to know more, our 16 specialist investment teams have autonomously designed approaches that aim to deliver long-term risk adjusted returns.

Central to these different approaches is recognition of the impact environmental, social and governance factors have not only on performance, but on society. Many of our portfolio managers actively engage with companies to help reduce risks and improve governance.

Since 2007, we have been signatories to the United Nation’s Principles for Responsible Investment (also referred to as PRI).

We are investors who think about the future, the long-term impact of our decisions.

A shared vision

Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation (MUTB), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), acquired our business from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia in August 2019.

MUFG manages AUD$809 billion in funds on behalf of its clients3. Its subsidiary, Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking, is one of Japan’s largest asset managers.

We operate as a standalone global asset management business, with a Board comprising members of First Sentier Investors and MUTB.
