Jamie Grant, based in our Hong Kong office, is the Head of Emerging Markets and Asian Fixed Income. Jamie joined us in 2013 in the role of Head of Asian Fixed Income, responsible for the development of the team’s Asian fixed income capabilities. His role was expanded in September 2017 taking responsibility for the further development of our Emerging Markets business. Jamie has more than 20 years’ industry experience specialising in corporate credit. He has experience in funds management and credit analysis across Europe, the US, Latin America and Asia and has managed investment teams in the UK, Asia, Latin America and Australia. Jamie’s most recent role was Global Head of Fixed Income at QBE Insurance. In this role Jamie was responsible for the QBE Group’s fixed income business across Asia Pacific, Europe, the UK, US and Latin America. Prior to this Jamie spent more than eight years working for AXA Investment Managers, comprising seven years in London as a Senior Investment Manager and two years in Singapore as the Head of Fixed Income Asia. Jamie holds a Bachelor of International Business Relations from Griffith University, Brisbane.
Nigel Foo, based in our Hong Kong office, is a Senior Portfolio Manager for Asian Fixed Income team. In his role, Nigel is responsible for formulating investment strategies and managing portfolios with a focus on Asian credit and local currency debt. Prior to joining the team in 2010, Nigel spent six years with State Street Global Advisors as a fixed income portfolio manager where he gained extensive experience managing one of the Asian local currency bond funds in the region, amongst other global fixed income mandates. Since the start of his career in 1997, Nigel has developed strong research and risk management skills through his roles as a market risk analyst at both JP Morgan and Credit Suisse First Boston. He also had experience as equity research analyst at HSBC. Nigel holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Major in Finance) from National University of Singapore. He is also a CFA charterholder.
Nicole Hsieh, based in our Hong Kong office, is a Senior Portfolio Manager for Asian Fixed Income team. In her role, Nicole is responsible for formulating investment strategies and analysing Asian portfolios with a focus on Asian Credit and Hong Kong Dollar bonds. Nicole joined in 2003 as a Quantitative Analyst and was appointed as Portfolio Manager in 2006. Prior to joining the team, Nicole spent two years as a Regulation Officer for the Hong Kong Exchange and Clearing Limited and one year as an Economist at Standard and Poor’s (DRI) Toronto. As a Portfolio Manager, Nicole has been voted one of the Most Astute Investors in HK local currency bonds in each of the year during 2008-2014, 2016 by The Assets. In addition, the MPF Hong Kong dollar bond fund for which Nicole is the portfolio manager has won the Lipper Fund Awards for the Best Fund in the Bond HK Dollar sector for the MPF / Pension division in each of the year during 2007-2011. Nicole was also voted one of the Most Astute Investors in Asian G3 Bonds in 2008 and 2011. Nicole holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics (Minor in Psychology) from the Simon Fraser University, Canada and a Master of Financial Economics from the University of Toronto, Canada. She is also a CFA charterholder.
Mark Bodon, based in our London office, is a Senior Portfolio Manager in the Emerging Markets Debt team. Mark joined the team in 2012. In his role, Mark’s responsibilities cover EM sovereign and corporate asset classes. In addition to portfolio management, he is also responsible for investment research across the Latin American region. Prior to joining in August 2012, Mark held senior research roles at PineBridge Investments and Standard Asset Management. Mark was previously a ratings analyst with Moody’s in London. He also held various corporate finance roles in New York, London and Australia with National Australia Bank and began his career with KPMG. Mark holds a Masters of Applied Finance and Investment from The Securities Institute of Australia and is a Chartered Accountant.
Bilal Khan, based at our London office, is a Portfolio Manager in the Emerging Markets Debt team. In his role, in addition to portfolio management, Bilal has responsibility for research coverage across a number of emerging markets regions. Before joining the team in January 2017, Bilal was Director at Renaissance Capital responsible for Turkey and Africa credit markets covering sovereigns, corporates and financials. Prior to this, Bilal was an Executive Director at UBS and Barclays Capital and was responsible for a wide range of EM markets including bonds, CDS and structured products for over 10 years. Prior to this, Bilal started his career as a quantitative analyst developing risk and pricing models for G10 and EM trading desks at Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank. Bilal holds an MA (Hons) Maths & Computer Science from St John’s College, Cambridge University. Bilal is also a proficient Urdu speaker.
Helena Cairns, based in our London office, is a Credit Analyst in the Emerging Markets Debt team. In her role Helena is responsible for credit research covering corporates and financial institutions across emerging market regions. Prior to joining in February 2014, Helena spent three years at Moody’s in London where she was an Associate Analyst in the Corporate Finance Group. Before that, Helena was an Associate at KPMG in London and Stuttgart and worked in corporate and private banking at Kreissparkasse Tuttlingen in Germany. Helena holds a Diplom in Wirtschaftswissenschaften (Master equivalent in Economics/Business Administration) from the University of Ulm, Germany, and is a CFA Charter Holder. She also qualified in the graduate programme at Kreissparkasse Tuttlingen, Germany. A native German speaker, Helena is also proficient in Russian.
Joanna Woods, based at our London office, is a Portfolio Manager in the Emerging Markets Debt team. In her role, in addition to portfolio management, Joanna is responsible for sovereign research coverage across Middle East, North Africa, Central America and the Caribbean. Prior to joining the team as an Analyst in 2013, Joanna spent a number of years working in our Global Fixed Income team as a Portfolio Analyst across a number of rates, inflation-linked and corporate credit portfolios. Joanna joined the firm in 2010. Joanna holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance & Accounting majors) from the Australian National University and is a CFA Charter Holder.
Adrian Au, based in our Hong Kong office, is a Senior Manager Credit Analyst for Asian Fixed Income team. In his role, Adrian is responsible for in-house credit risk evaluation of Asian credits, with a focus on corporates. Adrian joined in July 2006 as Manager Credit Analysis for the Asian Fixed Income team. Prior to joining, Adrian worked as a senior credit analyst for more than 10 years at Global Financial Risk Management Division of Barclays Capital Asia Limited where he covered credit risk analysis of private and listed corporations, infrastructure projects, and banks having extensive experience in different credit and legal environments of Asian countries. Prior to Barclays, he worked in a corporate finance team at one of top four Japanese securities houses after he had gained audit experience from a CPA firm in Hong Kong. Adrian holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Accounting from University of West London. He has also completed postgraduate studies in Risk Management at the University of Hong Kong.
Jin Hur, based in our Hong Kong office, is a Credit Analyst, Emerging Markets and Asian Fixed Income. In his role, Jin is responsible for the in-depth credit research analysis of Asian credits, with a focus on financial institutions, technology and telecom sector. Prior to joining in February 2018, Jin worked at ANZ Hong Kong as an Associate Director in Financial Institutions Group Research & Analysis covering India, Korea, Japan, Vietnam and Hong Kong. Prior to ANZ Hong Kong, Jin was an analyst at Fitch Ratings Hong Kong’s Financial Institutions Group covering Hong Kong, Macau, Korea and Mongolia. Before that, he was a senior consultant at Ernst & Young Sydney’s Infrastructure Advisory team. Jin started his career with Ernst & Young Sydney’s Assurance and Advisory Services focusing on technology, communications and entertainment sectors. Jin is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) and FRM charter holder. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Sydney.
Anna Vaugrante, based in our London office, is a Portfolio Research Analyst in the Emerging Markets Debt team. Prior to joining in January 2018, Anna worked as an Analyst at AXA, latterly for the Architas Multi-management investment team. Prior to this Anna gained industry experience at internships with Amundi Asset Management, French Private Finance, Rothschild & CIE and Societe Generale. Anna holds a Master’s degree in Financial Management from Toulouse Business School. Anna is bilingual in French and English, and she is also proficient in Spanish.
Clarissa, based in our Singapore office, is a Fixed Income Analyst for the Asian Fixed Income team. Clarissa joined in January 2016, upon completion of her studies. She began working as a Fixed Income Analyst within the Asian Fixed Income. In her role, Clarissa is responsible for research coverage within Asian market. Clarissa holds a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Accounting and Finance) from Monash University.
Jan-Markus May, based at our London office, is a Portfolio Manager in the Emerging Markets Debt team. In his role, in addition to portfolio management, Jan-Markus has responsibility for research coverage across a number of emerging markets regions. Jan-Markus May has over 20 years of investment experience. Prior to re-joining in July 2019 Jan-Markus was an Investment Director for fixed income at Fidelity International. He previously worked for the Emerging Markets Debt team from September 2011 to March 2015. Prior to that he spent nine years as a portfolio manager with UNIQA Financial Services in Vienna where he managed an emerging markets debt fund. His previous experience also includes a year at Dresdner Asset Management in a client manager role, where he managed institutional mandates for clients across Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Central and South East Asia. Jan-Markus was awarded a Diplom-Kaufmann in Finance and Monetary Economics from the Johann Wolfgang-Goethe University in Frankfurt.
